Historic Postseason Performance Earns Prestigious Trophy

Connor McDavid Wins Conn Smythe Despite Oilers Loss in Stanley Cup Final

Historic Postseason Performance Earns Prestigious Trophy

Connor McDavid put up a historic postseason performance, catching and passing Wayne Gretzky's assist record en route to winning the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy. Despite the Edmonton Oilers losing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers, McDavid's individual brilliance earned him the prestigious award.

First Conn Smythe for Losing Team Since 2003

McDavid's Conn Smythe win is the first time since 2003 that the trophy has been awarded to a member of the losing team. The last player to achieve this feat was Jean-Sebastien Giguere of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Illustrious Trophy Case

With the Conn Smythe Trophy, McDavid adds another accolade to his already illustrious trophy case. He now joins the likes of Giguere, Leach, Hextall, Hall, and Crozier as the only players to win the Conn Smythe while playing for a losing team.
